Andrey Bychkov, MD, PhD, FRCPath is a Director of Digital Pathology at Kameda Medical Center, Kamogawa, Japan and a Visiting Associate Professor at Nagasaki University. Dr. Bychkov graduated with an M.D. from Russia where he also completed residency training and practiced in anatomic pathology. Later, he earned a Ph.D. in molecular medicine in Nagasaki, Japan and supervised research projects at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand.
His subspecialty is thyroid pathology and he has contributed to the 2022 WHO classifications of Endocrine and Hematolymphoid tumors. Dr. Bychkov is deeply involved in the development of the Kameda Digital Pathology Network, which is one the few Asian facilities successfully adopted digital pathology and AI for primary diagnosis.
Dr. Bychkov has published extensively and has authored more than 100 journal articles and book chapters. He is an academic editor for several international journals (PLOS One, IJSP, JPTM, etc.) and regularly presents at various conferences and pathology meetings, including top-ranked events, such as USCAP, IAP, IAC, and others.
Dr. Fouad Al Dayel is currently the Chairman of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia since 2003. He is also the Deputy International Commissioner for Middle East, College of American Pathologists since 2014. As Consultant Anatomic Pathologist, Dr. Al Dayel’s special interests are lung pathology, bone & soft tissue pathology, cell therapy and molecular pathology. Dr. Al Dayel is also interested in laboratory quality management and laboratory accreditations.
Dr. Al Dayel main research interest is solid tumors cancer genome. He published more than 184 articles in peer reviewed journals.

Dr. Imran Mirza is a Consultant Physician in the Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Department at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Additionally, he serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, and the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Alberta, Canada.
Before joining SSMC, Dr. Mirza was the Medical Director for the provincial Molecular Pathology Program of Alberta Precision Laboratories in Canada. He also held the position of Clinical Professor in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary. Moreover, he served as Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta and worked as the Director of the Molecular Pathology Lab at the University of Alberta Hospitals.
During his time in the UAE, Dr. Mirza led as the Section Head of Molecular Pathology at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City. He was also the Founding Chair of the Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, which operated in a complex tertiary/quaternary care setting. Additionally, he possesses significant leadership experience in green-field hospital projects and has held various healthcare leadership roles.
Dr. Mirza earned his medical degree from Rawalpindi Medical College, University of The Punjab, Pakistan. He holds a Master of Science in Microbiology from The George Washington University in the United States. He completed his residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Danbury Hospital, a program affiliated with Yale University, and pursued a fellowship in Hematopathology at Cleveland Clinic. His Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, Hematology, and Molecular Genetic Pathology certifications are from the American Board of Pathology. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada, the College of American Pathologists, and the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
Dr. Mirza is certified as a Laboratory Medical Director by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and holds a Lab Management certification from the American Association of Clinical Chemistry. He has served as a CAP inspector for over 15 years and is a certified internal auditor for ISO 15189 standards. Furthermore, he has obtained a yellow belt in Lean Six Sigma for continuous improvement. Dr. Mirza has held elected councilor position on the board of the International Society for Laboratory Hematology and the board of the Emirates Society of Hematology as an elected scientific officer. He has also been a member of the International Affairs Committee of the Association for Molecular Pathology. Apart from his involvement in various committees, Dr. Mirza has actively participated in organizing and scientific committees for numerous national, regional, and international conferences and meetings. He has contributed as a reviewer of abstracts for these conferences and has been a highly sought-after speaker at national and international conferences. Additionally, he has an extensive scientific track record, having published over 30 papers and book chapters.

Dr. Basel Altrabulsi has been part of National Reference Laboratory's (NRL) scientific leadership team since 2015, in his current role he oversees the pathology and laboratory services at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi is one of NRL's flagship laboratories in the UAE, specializing in Anatomic Pathology.
Dr. Basel is certified by the American Board of Pathology, combined Clinical and Anatomical Pathology and brings to NRL more than 18 years' international experience in the field of laboratory medicine and diagnostic pathology.
Dr. Basel started his internship in pathology at Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas, Texas and completed his residency training in 2003. He then completed his Selective Pathology Fellowship, followed by a Clinical Research Training Program, at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Dr. Basel's career has included multiple leadership positions at elite US hospitals and reference laboratories, such as Chief of Service and Medical Director at Baylor University Medical Center; Director of the Histology Laboratory at Greater Dallas Pathology; and Medical Director of Arlington Cancer Center. He has also served as an Inspection Team Leader for the College of American Pathologists (CAP) on multiple occasions.
He has authored many research publications and is a member of global organizations, such as the International Society of Urological Pathology, the International Society of Breast Pathology, and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. Dr. Basel is passionate about research and education and is the Pathology Course Director at Khalifa University, College of Medicine and Health Sciences in Abu Dhabi.
Hyo Jin Park, M.D., Ph.D. is a Consultant Pathologist at Sheikh Khalifa Specialty Hospital (SKSH). She is affiliated at Seoul National University (SNU) Hospital in Korea as a Clinical Assistant Professor. Dr. Park earned her M.D. degree in 1998 and her Ph.D. in 2010 from SNU, College of Medicine. She completed her residency training at SNU hospital and obtained board certification as an anatomic pathologist in 2005. Since 2015, she has been actively contributing to the pathology department at SKSH and played a key role in implementing genetic tests on solid tumor using next generation sequencing. Her primary areas of interest include breast, lung, endocrine and molecular pathology. She has published many articles in SCI journals.
Having studied and received a Ph.D. in theoretical physics, Prof. Busch has been working in Systems Biology and Bioinformatics since 2004. His main research interests are in the modeling of signaling pathways and integrative Omics analysis of high throughput data with applications in precision oncology, inflammation, genetics, microbiome analysis, and movement disorders. As such, he is the head of the Systems Biology service and single-cell core unit of the University of Lübeck. He leads the Bioinformatics and translational research of the Molecular Tumor Board of the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein, the second-largest hospital in Germany, for which his group has developed fully integrated and automated analysis solutions for Precision Medicine in Oncology.

Dr. Fouad Alchami MD FRCPath completed a surgical rotation and membership of the Royal College of Surgeons, before joining histopathology training program in Wales, UK and becoming a fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists. He took the position of consultant histopathologist at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, UK where he led the Cancer Biomarker and Molecular Pathology Group, managing and reporting immunohistochemical biomarkers in multiple tumours. Dr Alchami introduced, established and conducted a countrywide reporting service for PDL1 in lung cancer in Wales. In addition he is the lead pathologist for multiple trials enabling the use of tissue for novel molecular biomarker testing and development. In his current role of senior attending physician at Sidra Medicine, affiliated with Weil Cornell Medicine – Qatar; he managed the delivery of integrated digital pathology reporting service in Sidra Medicine; one of the first fully digital units in the region. He is also quality director of all pathology. His main research activities revolve around tumour causation and evolution, grading and cancer prognostication, and clinical oncological medicine with the added role of biomarkers. He have multiple publications in these fields.
Dr. Sangeeta Desai is a Professor & Head, Pathology, Tata Memorial Centre. Her subspecialities in Surgical Pathology are Breast Cancer and Urologic Cancer. Her areas of interest in Oncology besides oncopathology include Diagnostic Molecular Pathology, Digital Pathology/AI, Telemedicine, Biorepository science, Research Bioethics. She has authored 265 publications, of which 176 are peer reviewed and contributed to 10 books. She has pioneered Clinical Molecular Diagnostics and Digital Pathology in India.

Ahmed Bouridane received an “Ingenieur d’Etat” degree in electronics from “Ecole Nationale Polytechnique” of Algiers (ENPA), Algeria, in 1982, an M.Phil. degree in electrical engineering (VLSI design for signal processing) from the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, U.K., in 1988, and an Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering (computer vision) from the University of Nottingham, U.K., in 1992. From 1992 to 1994, he worked as a Research Developer in telesurveillance and access control applications. In 1994, he joined Queen’s University Belfast, Belfast, U.K., initially as Lecturer in computer architecture and image processing and later on he was promoted to Reader in Computer Science. In 2009, he joined Northumbria University at Newcastle leading the Computational Intelligence and Visual Computing Lab. His is now Professor of Machine Intelligence and Director of Cybersecurity and Data Analytics Research Center at the University of Sharjah, UAE. His research interests are in machine learning with applications to imaging for forensics and security, quantitative pathology and bi-medical engineering, homeland security and video analytics. He has authored and co-authored more than 350 publications and three research books on imaging for forensics and security and Biometric Security and privacy.

Dr. Anil Parwani is a Professor of Pathology at The Ohio State University. He serves as the Vice Chair and Director of Anatomical Pathology. Dr. Parwani is also the Director of Pathology Informatics and Director of the Digital Pathology. His research is focused on diagnostic and prognostic markers in bladder, prostate and renal cell carcinoma. Dr. Parwani has expertise in the area of surgical pathology, viral vaccines and pathology informatics including biobanking, whole slide imaging, digital imaging, telepathology, image analysis, artificial intelligence and lab automation. Dr. Parwani has authored over 350 peer-reviewed articles in major scientific journals and several books and book chapters. Dr. Parwani is the Editor-in-chief of Diagnostic Pathology and Journal of Pathology Informatics.
